This is the eighth straight year that the Institute earned top ranking in New England. The rankings, published in the magazine\'s annual America\'s Best Hospitals guide, added some important momentum to the institutes $1 billion comprehensive capital campaign, The Dana-Farber Campaign to Conquer Cancer.
Publicly launched on Jan. 31 (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EIN/is_2007_Jan_31/ai_n27131347), the campaign aims to secure the financial resources necessary to accelerate the pace of discovery, speed the application of scientific knowledge to help save lives, and expand the Institute\'s ability to provide its signature total patient care. The campaign is being led by Larry Lucchino, CEO of the Boston Red Sox, (www.boston.redsox.mlb.com/team/front_office.jsp?c_id=bos), and Josh Bekenstein, Managing Director of Bain Capital are co-chairing the campaign. In a letter to campaign participants and others, they wrote, As philanthropic supporters of the Institute\'s work, each of us should feel a strong sense of pride in this institution\'s legacy where it has come from and where it is going. But if we\'re going to make possible Dana-Farber\'s mission to conquer cancer, we cannot rest on our laurels. We need everyone to step forward and help secure a future without cancer.
